Postpartum Food Vybz - Hearty Lentil Soup

So, I have made this soup plenty of times on cold winter days and in the hot summer. Its a super nourishing and hearty experience that works as a comfort food and also helps to center the birthing person or the parent who has been in perpetual postpartum. Any food that I make is done with intention to heal the mind, body, and soul.

I realized that the reason we have that favorite dish from a family member or a close friend is not what they made but how they made it with intention. In ancient African and Indigenous cultures we are always taught to move with intention to center self and others.

My intention for sharing this is that you will pass it along in love and centering hope. Btw, feel free to flex the recipe any way you want. I don't measure out things because that just not my vibe. Move vibrationally and how the spirit carries you and it will come out just fine.

Ingredients can be whatever is in your fridge but here is the main vibe.

Cooking time: Approximately 30-45 minutes depending on consistency you want very soupy or thicker.

Ingredients

  • Mushrooms

  • Onions

  • Carrots

  • Chives

  • Dino Kale

  • Potatoes

  • Tomato Paste or Sauce

  • Green or Crimson Lentils

  • Olive Oil

  • Seasonings of Choice

  • Nori Seaweed (Optional)

  • Mushroom Broth (Any Broth Works)

1 . Chop all veggie ingredients small to medium size pieces.

2. Saute celery, mushrooms, onions, carrots, chives, and potatoes in olive oil on medium low flame until onions are slightly translucent.

3. Pour in mushroom broth, add can of tomato paste or half jar of pasta sauce.

4. Add lentils and stir cook on medium flame for 30-45 minutes until desired tenderness. (I like mine to pop open and thicken.

5. Last 10 minutes add chopped dino kale cook until bright green and tender.

Pour in bowl and serve. Top with Nori, Dulse, or Kelp flakes and enjoy.

Enjoy! Send me a pic and comment below. Bless.
